Nidhogg

Nidhogg launched on January 13, 2014 and has received a steady trickle of updates over the years — multiplayer and netcode improvements in 2015 and 2017, and a content update in September 2021 that added a new arena ("Fields") and a permanent blood mode. That September 2021 patch appears to be the last substantive content addition to the game itself. The most recent developer news (June 10, 2026) is actually an announcement for an entirely new game — Blood Dungeon — posted on Nidhogg's Steam page. This is a common practice where a studio uses their existing game's news feed to promote a new project. It does not represent new content for Nidhogg. In April 2025, Messhof posted a localization beta update, adding support for 14 languages and rebuilding the game on a newer version of Game Maker. This is a maintenance and compatibility update rather than new gameplay content. There are no unreleased DLC entries, no announced future content for Nidhogg, and no developer statement about ongoing content development for this title. The game launched as a complete product and its content additions have wound down, with the last meaningful content (the Fields arena) shipping in September 2021. Nidhogg is a finished game.
