Niffelheim launched out of Early Access on September 26, 2018. Following its full release, the developer shipped two paid DLC packs: Odin's Blessing DLC on November 5, 2019, and the Bloody Moon DLC on April 20, 2020. These represent the full scope of post-launch paid content. The most recent developer communication is a 5th anniversary post from April 22, 2021, in which Ellada Games mentioned a small game update (ver. 1.0.12), announced a mobile port in progress, and noted plans to work on "initial quests and game balance" and "a new NPC" during 2021. However, no named DLC or expansion was announced, and no further developer communications appear in the record after April 22, 2021 — over five years ago as of June 2026. All three DLC entries in the store are marked as released. The 2021 plans for quests, balance, and a new NPC were vague and have not been followed up with any further announcements or updates. Given the complete silence since April 22, 2021, the absence of any announced or unreleased content, and the developer's last stated plans being modest quality-of-life work that was typical of ongoing maintenance rather than a new content cycle, the game appears to have reached the end of its content development. The last substantive content addition was the Bloody Moon DLC on April 20, 2020.
