Evaluation

Nightmare Frames launched on June 16, 2022 as a complete point-and-click adventure game. The only DLC released — an artbook and soundtrack pack — shipped on the same day as the game itself, indicating it was always intended as a companion item rather than post-launch content. The developer's post-launch activity has been limited to a minor bug fix in July 2022 and a Halloween discount promotion in October 2023. The most recent developer post, from February 2026, is a bundle announcement grouping all of Postmodern Adventures' titles together — it describes Nightmare Frames as a finished product and makes no mention of future content for it. The developer's attention has clearly shifted to new titles, including An English Haunting (announced in 2023). There is no roadmap, no unreleased DLC, and no developer statement suggesting additional content is planned for Nightmare Frames. The game shipped as a complete, self-contained story and has remained that way.

About this game

Alan Goldberg is a frustrated slasher movie screenwriter in the Hollywood of 1985 who feels his career is at a standstill, but his luck is about to change: Helen Westmore, an eccentric millionaire, will grant him anything he could wish for if he is able to find genius horror director Edward Keller's last, unpublished work, which is said to be the scariest film of all time.

Alan will find his way amongst B-films production companies, VFX workshops, religious cults, and a small haunted town called Serena, the dark reputation of which began when Keller was last seen there.
