Evaluation
No Turning Back entered Steam Early Access on January 15, 2016. In the weeks following launch, the developer was very active, shipping feature updates roughly every 3–5 days from January 20 through February 20, 2016 — covering new gameplay systems, key bindings, character selection, and balance work. The last developer news post was a hotfix on February 20, 2016, which mentioned that update 2.1 would be "coming in the next few days." That update was never announced, and no further developer communications have appeared in the news feed since that date.
The only post-2016 store activity is a batch of 26 DLC packs that appeared on the store in June–July 2020 (starter packs, class unlock packs, XP/money multipliers, and skill upgrades). These are all currently released, but they represent pay-to-progress convenience items rather than content expansions, and their listing on the store was not accompanied by any developer news post or announcement.
The game remains flagged as Early Access on Steam as of today, June 27, 2026 — more than ten years after launch — with no developer statement about a 1.0 release, a completion timeline, or whether development is continuing. The developer's last known communication was on February 20, 2016. Given that Early Access games carry an implicit promise of continued development toward a finished product, and given that the developer has been completely silent for over a decade with no explanation, the game's future status is genuinely uncertain.
Evidence
Last developer communication: a hotfix post promising update 2.1 'in the next few days.' That update never appeared, and no further posts have been made since.
Game is still flagged as Early Access on Steam, indicating it has never reached a 1.0 release despite launching in January 2016.
