On The Road – The Truck Simulator launched on November 14, 2019 and has received a consistent stream of major updates since then. Notable milestones include a substantial feature update in January 2023 (Update 17, v1.2.8.220) adding vehicle carrier trailers and major physics overhauls, the "Big Update" on February 15, 2024 adding tankers and tank trailers, and a Graphics Update on November 17, 2025 with overhauled visuals and weather effects. A hotfix followed on November 28, 2025. It is worth noting that most of the more recent news posts — including the announcements and releases of the "Heavy South" DLC and Update 1.3.0 (July 2026) — appear to be for a related but separate game, Heavy Cargo – The Truck Simulator (Steam App ID 1474930), not for On The Road – The Truck Simulator (Steam App ID 285380). The developer cross-posts news between the two titles' Steam pages, and while these updates demonstrate the studio remains active, they are not direct updates to On The Road itself. For On The Road specifically, the most recent confirmed update is the Graphics Update from November 17, 2025, with a hotfix on November 28, 2025. The historical cadence of major updates to this title has been roughly every 12–21 months. As of September 18, 2026, approximately 10 months have passed since the last confirmed On The Road update — still within the historical spacing between major releases. The developer has not announced any future content for On The Road, nor have they indicated development has concluded.

From 18 tonners to the Gigaliner, ON THE ROAD – The Truck Simulator offers everything a trucker’s heart desires.

In this realistic truck simulation, you have more than 6500 km of motorway and country roads at your disposal – including numerous detailed motorway interchanges. Get behind the steering wheel of a MAN TGX or Scania R Series and discover more than 15 German cities like Hamburg, Bremen, Cologne, Hannover, and Berlin, with unique road designs and sights. Additionally, numerous other points of interest are waiting to be discovered along your journey, as well.

The MAN and Scania trucks behave very realistically – including automatic transmissions, retarder/intarder, and assistance systems. From compact box bodies to semi-trailers and even gigaliners, you’ll have the right cargo volume available for every delivery order. Thanks to the Steam Workshop support, you can paint every vehicle and trailer as you desire.

On The Road also features an economic system. Found your own company and hire drivers so you can accept more orders. Plan your routes as efficiently as possible, but keep an eye on the mandatory rest times as well.
