Ova Magica launched its full 1.0 release on Steam on May 28, 2026 as a surprise shadow drop, following several years in Early Access. The 1.0 release was the game's largest update ever, adding completed friendship routes, a marriage system, a new blob world, Steam Achievements, and five new language localizations. The developer has committed to future content. A January 2025 news post confirmed that a 7th blob world — originally a Kickstarter stretch goal — was cut from the pre-1.0 roadmap specifically to avoid delaying the release, with an explicit promise to deliver it as a post-launch update based on community feedback. That commitment remains unretracted. On July 14, 2026, the developer posted an update confirming that console versions for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation, and Xbox will now launch on September 8, 2026 (delayed from the originally announced July 21, 2026 date due to the additional work required for native Nintendo Switch 2 support). Active publishing and development work is clearly ongoing. Since the 1.0 launch, a bug fix and balancing patch (v1.01) was released on July 1, 2026, and the developer indicated further improvements based on player suggestions are coming in the weeks ahead.
