SAMURAI SHODOWN

SAMURAI SHODOWN launched on Steam on June 14, 2021, bringing with it 11 DLC characters available on day one, followed by one additional DLC character — Baiken — released on August 19, 2021. All 12 listed DLC items are marked as released, and no unreleased DLC exists on the store. The developer has not announced any additional characters, season passes with outstanding content, or future DLC since then. The bulk of post-launch developer activity has been focused on a major infrastructure improvement: retrofitting rollback netcode into the game. SNK ran multiple public beta tests starting in February 2023, shipped the rollback update on December 15, 2023 (following an earlier June 2023 beta milestone), and then continued to refine it with patches through August 9, 2024. While this represents sustained developer engagement, it is maintenance and quality-of-life work — not new content additions. The last developer communication on record is a bug fix patch dated August 9, 2024. There have been no announcements of new characters, story content, or other additions since the Baiken DLC in August 2021. The developer has not stated plans to release further content, and the update history shows the rollback netcode project has reached a stable, polished state. The game appears to be a complete package. All announced and listed DLC has shipped, and the developer's focus since launch has been on improving the online experience rather than expanding the content roster.
