Evaluation

SCP: Escape Together entered Steam Early Access on January 6, 2021 and has received a sustained series of updates since then, progressing through multiple alpha versions. Major content updates include Version 0.2.1.6 (February 2021), Version 0.2.1.7 (May 2021), and Version 0.4.0-alpha (February 2022), with smaller feature patches continuing through Version 0.4.6-alpha in June 2023. In April 2023, the developers posted a status update explaining that after months of internal deliberation, they chose to continue development rather than restart the project. They outlined a roadmap of planned work including HUD overhaul, SCP-173 movement fixes, dimension reworks, intro changes, lighting system rework, and lore additions. They acknowledged that updates would be slow due to their small volunteer team, and pointed players to an external roadmap page updated frequently. However, the last post of any kind from the developer was the Version 0.4.6-alpha patch notes on June 18, 2023. None of the improvements outlined in the April 2023 roadmap post appear to have shipped, and there have been no announcements, devlogs, or patches since then — a silence spanning nearly three years as of June 2026. The game's store description still marks multiple story modes as "in development," and the game remains in alpha. Given the developer's stated commitment to continued development in April 2023 alongside the prolonged silence and undelivered promises, the current development status is genuinely uncertain.
Evidence
Version 0.4.6-alpha released with bug fixes. This is the last developer communication of any kind as of June 2026.
