On October 28, 2021, the developer — Emil Shagapov of Shagapov Productions (HeartDreamers) — published an official statement announcing that SCP: Resonance has been frozen indefinitely. The reasons cited were: the development team disbanded, the project lead lost interest, and the studio decided to pivot toward 3D game development. The post also referenced a future project under the codename "SOS PROJECT," but gave no indication that Resonance would ever be revisited.
Prior to that announcement, a December 6, 2020 post had described an ambitious overhaul of the game — new art style, new engine, new story, and a planned transition to a paid model — but those plans were never fulfilled before the project was abandoned.
The game has been in Early Access since October 25, 2019 and remains purchasable on Steam, but it is in an unfinished state with no active development and no communication from the developer since October 28, 2021. There is no indication that development has resumed or that the studio intends to return to this project.
