Scrapnaut launched out of Early Access on September 15, 2021, shipping its second chapter alongside the 1.0 release. At that time, the developer explicitly promised further updates, listing upcoming new game modes, Linux support, and additional "big updates." Through early 2022, the developer followed through on some of those promises: a detailed roadmap was published on February 5, 2022 outlining planned updates through version 1.6, and the 1.6.1 update shipped on March 3, 2022, adding permadeath mode, new game modes, and new structures. The Nintendo Switch port launched on January 20, 2022. A feature patch on August 1, 2022 (version 1.6.13) added 15 new potions and alchemy content. The final recorded developer communication was the version 1.6.15 patch on August 17, 2022, which added herb farming mechanics. Since August 17, 2022, there have been no further developer posts of any kind — no patches, no announcements, no roadmap updates, and no developer statements about future plans. The February 2022 roadmap mentioned story updates planned for version 1.7 and beyond, but those were never delivered and the developer has not communicated about them since going silent in August 2022. Given the developer's prior posting cadence (roughly monthly posts from launch through August 2022), the silence since August 17, 2022 — now nearly four years — far exceeds any reasonable expectation of a gap between updates. The version 1.7 story content that was once planned was never announced as cancelled, but the extended silence with no follow-through strongly indicates development has ended. The game appears to have reached its final state with version 1.6.15.
