Screw Drivers officially launched as a full premium title on August 20, 2026, exiting its free-to-play period and receiving a major update on the same day. The launch update, announced on August 18, 2026, delivered a track editor (with Steam Workshop sharing), a rebuilt in-game Workshop browser for both vehicles and custom tracks, full controller support, 25-language localization, new building blocks (including a clutch, a traction control block, and a new two-stroke engine), and significant performance improvements including an upgrade to Unity 6. The game had a busy development history leading up to this point: a major island update in October 2024, the Stunt Showdown DLC in December 2024, the airplane-focused Pretty Fly DLC and Rennpisten Insel map in April 2025, a large performance restructuring in June 2025, and a sweeping multiplayer and mechanics update in October 2025. Five cosmetic/content DLC bundles released in November 2025 round out what has shipped to date — all DLC on the store is currently released. The August 18, 2026 launch post also disclosed a team change: co-developer Marc left the project roughly six months ago (around February 2026), and development has since continued under sole developer Simon in partnership with publisher Headup. Simon expressed a personal desire to bring "infinite more content" and noted the premium pricing change is intended to make that possible — but no specific future content (new DLC, expansions, or named updates) has been formally announced. Because the game only launched today, there is no post-1.0 update history to draw on, and it's genuinely too early to know whether additional content will follow.
