Secrets of Grindea

Secrets of Grindea officially left Early Access and launched as a full 1.0 release on February 29, 2024, after 13 years in development. Since then, Pixel Ferrets has maintained an active post-launch update cadence with three major updates: the Difficulty Update (May 16, 2024), the Clarity Update (August 12, 2024), and the New Game+ Update (August 29, 2025). These updates have arrived at intervals of roughly 3 to 12 months, establishing a clear ongoing development pattern. At the close of the New Game+ Frontline announcement on June 27, 2025, the developer stated: "After that, we're going to look into the possibility of adding Local Co-Op to the game!" This was reiterated implicitly by the overall tone of the one-year anniversary post on February 28, 2025, which described upcoming work enthusiastically. No post has announced that development is complete or that no further content is planned. As of today, October 8, 2026, the last major update shipped on August 29, 2025 — approximately 13 months ago. The established cadence between major updates has ranged from about 3 months (May 2024 to August 2024) to about 12 months (August 2024 to August 2025). At 13 months since the last major update, we are at the outer edge of the historical window. However, the developer has not communicated that development has concluded, and Local Co-Op remains an open area of exploration that has not been followed up with either a release or a cancellation statement. The developer has gone quiet since the September 6, 2025 bug fix patch, but this silence alone — without a closure statement — does not cross the threshold for development uncertainty given the previously demonstrated willingness to take longer gaps between updates.
