Shrimp.io is a free-to-play survivor-style game that launched on February 12, 2024. The solo developer (VuVuu) actively updated the game from launch through September 2, 2024, shipping eight feature patches over roughly seven months. These patches added new weapons, an endless mode, item drops, cosmetic skins, achievements, and various balance improvements. However, every patch from March 2024 onward included a list of planned future features — including rerolls, more weapons, additional meta upgrades, in-run stats, cloud saving, and full controller support — none of which appear to have shipped. The developer also repeatedly stated that continued updates were contingent on players continuing to engage with the game. The last developer communication was on September 2, 2024 (the v0.19 patch). As of June 20, 2026, there has been no post, patch, or announcement in over 20 months. Given the previously active update cadence and the number of explicitly listed undelivered features, this prolonged silence — with no explanation from the developer — makes it unclear whether the game is still being worked on or has been quietly abandoned.
