Skullgirls 2nd Encore

Skullgirls 2nd Encore launched in 2013 and has had a long post-launch life. The Season 1 Pass brought four new characters: Annie (July 2021), Umbrella (April 2022), Black Dahlia (March 2023), and Marie (March 26, 2024), completing the pass's playable character roster. However, the March 26, 2024 post announcing Marie's full release explicitly committed to delivering additional content that had not yet shipped: an Annie alternate English voice pack, full English story mode voice acting for all four Season 1 Pass characters, and Japanese combat voice acting for Season 1 Pass characters. The developer stated these were originally planned for 2024 but would now release in 2025 due to logistical complexity. The developer also promised future Skullgirls Mobile palettes would be provided free to 2nd Encore players. These are clear, named commitments to future content. Following Marie's release, the developer shipped a major balance update on May 29, 2024, and two follow-up patches in June 2024. The last developer communication of any kind was a bug fix update on June 12, 2024. As of today (June 27, 2026), the developer has been silent for over two years — since June 12, 2024. The outstanding voice acting content that was promised for 2025 has not been confirmed as delivered or cancelled. This extended silence after an explicit content commitment creates genuine uncertainty about whether the promised content is still coming.
