Evaluation
SMASHING THE BATTLE launched on May 15–16, 2016 and received a handful of patches in the weeks following release, with the last meaningful update (version 1.18, adding upgrade balance changes and PS4 controller support) shipping on July 2, 2016. After that, developer communications went quiet on this game. The December 27, 2020 post from the studio announced a new game — Metallic Child — and described it as "related to Smashing the Battle," noting they had "prepared more content and play than Smashing the Battle." This framing makes clear the studio had moved on and considered Smashing the Battle a complete, finished product. There are no unreleased DLC listings, no roadmap promises, and no outstanding content commitments. The game launched as a self-contained hack-and-slash title with two characters and two storylines, and the store description reflects a finished package with no mention of planned additions.
Evidence
Developer announced their new game Metallic Child, describing it as having 'more content and play than Smashing the Battle' — implying Smashing the Battle is a completed baseline, not an ongoing project.
Version 1.18 patch — the last developer update for the game — added upgrade balance changes and PS4 pad support.
