Evaluation
Stable Orbit launched on Steam Early Access in fall 2016 and went through a series of named major updates — Electrolysis, Vector, Perihelion, and Vernier — before officially releasing as version 1.0 on September 27, 2017. A July 4, 2017 developer post acknowledged that some planned intermediate updates (Blackout and Umbilical) were being folded directly into the 1.0 release rather than shipped separately, consolidating the remaining work. The September 18, 2017 launch announcement confirmed the game was complete and ready for its full release. Post-launch activity was limited to small patches (e.g., version 1.03 on October 6, 2017) fixing bugs and making minor adjustments. The most recent developer communication in the dataset is from October 26, 2017 — the Vernier update, which added two new modules and a save game fix. There have been no developer posts, announcements, roadmaps, or unreleased DLC entries since that date. The store description presents the game as a complete product with no mention of planned expansions, seasons, or additional content. Given the 1.0 launch in September 2017, the absence of any post-launch content roadmap, and complete silence from the developer since October 2017, the game launched as a finished product with only minor post-launch maintenance.
