Evaluation

Star Renegades launched on September 8, 2020 and received a substantial post-launch content run through the end of 2021. Four paid or free character/expansion DLCs shipped between November 2020 and December 2021: Enter the Dragoon (November 26, 2020), The Imperium Strikes Back (December 17, 2020), Total Lunarcy (February 11, 2021), Guardian of the Metaverse (June 30, 2021), and finally the Prime Dimension free expansion (December 16, 2021). The Prime Dimension update was explicitly positioned as a story conclusion — it introduced "a new ending" and "the finale of the story," marking a natural endpoint for the game's content arc. All seven DLC entries in the store listing are marked as released, with no unreleased items remaining. The last bug-fix patch was posted on January 11, 2022. On August 25, 2023, Massive Damage announced their next game, Fera: The Sundered Tribes, and stated they had been working on it for two years — meaning the team had effectively moved on from Star Renegades shortly after the Prime Dimension expansion shipped. There have been no further updates or content announcements for Star Renegades since January 2022. The combination of the story-concluding Prime Dimension expansion, the completed DLC list, the studio's public pivot to a new project, and over four years of silence all point clearly to the game being content-complete as of December 16, 2021.
Evidence
Massive Damage announced their next game, Fera: The Sundered Tribes, stating they had been heads-down on it for two years. No mention of any future Star Renegades content. This confirms the team moved on from Star Renegades shortly after the Prime Dimension expansion.

About this game

RESIST. RECLAIM. REVIVE. REPEAT.

A service robot named J5T-1N has arrived in your dimension to warn of impending doom from an overwhelming force known as the Imperium.

Fight for survival across a procedurally generated and emergent mission-based campaign through reactive, tactical turn-based battle system that emphasizes interrupts and counters. Standing in your way is an intelligent Adversary system with enemy officers that evolve and move up in the ranks.

As your band of heroes fall in the fight against invading Imperium and hope is all but lost, J5T-1N must be sent to the next dimension with everything you’ve learned to give the next group of heroes a chance to prevail. Each dimension, and each playthrough is unique, challenging, and never the same.

  • Outwit your foes with interrupts, counters, and combos in our fast-paced Reactive Time Battle System

  • Survive the relentless onslaught of an Intelligent Adversary system that generates unique enemies and bosses that evolve as you play

  • Unlock dozens of alternate characters as your surviving squad members form bonds and create progeny

  • Battle your way into the heart of the Empire as our Rebellion Engine creates a unique experience with each playthrough via emergent gameplay and events, procedurally generated missions, shifting priorities, evolving enemies, and tons of equipment/upgrades for your squad
