SUPER BOMBERMAN R 2 launched on September 13, 2023 and received two notable post-launch updates. Version 1.3.0 (December 19, 2023) added a new character, quality-of-life improvements, and gameplay adjustments. Version 1.3.1 (February 2, 2024) added further UI improvements and bug fixes. Since February 2024, the only developer activity has been security-related maintenance patches — one in October 2025 addressing a Unity engine vulnerability and one in May 2026 for additional security updates. No new characters, modes, or content have been announced or shipped since early 2024. There are no unreleased DLC entries on the store, no developer announcements of upcoming content, and no roadmap. The game's 16 news posts consist entirely of bug fixes, security patches, and sales/discount notices — no content announcements of any kind. The developer has not stated the game is finished, but the pattern of activity (security-only maintenance for over two years after the last content patch) strongly indicates that content development has concluded. The game appears to have shipped as a complete package with a brief post-launch tuning period now ended.

In addition to the well-known "Standard", "Grand Prix" and "Battle 64" a new battle mode called "Castle" in which players are divided into Attack side and Castle side to battle for the treasure!
A "Stage Editor" function has also been added, allowing players to create their own stages for "Castle" and share them online with players around the globe.
