The Ascent

The Ascent launched on July 29, 2021 and received a range of post-launch content through its early years: free seasonal cosmetic packs (Halloween in October 2021, Winter in December 2021, Chongqing in January 2022), feature updates including Transmog and New Game+ (February 2022), the paid Cyber Warrior Pack (February 24, 2022), and the story expansion Cyber Heist (August 18, 2022). A cosmetic Artbook + Weapon Pack was also released on July 31, 2025. On July 29, 2026 — the game's fifth anniversary — developer Neon Giant published a significant update announcing that, with KRAFTON's backing, they have "massive plans for The Ascent franchise as a whole," including expansion to new platforms, new genres, and future sequels. They also announced an upcoming patch (the "Legacy Patch") to address longstanding bugs including co-op teleporting, save game issues, player progression, and HDR. On September 9, 2026, Neon Giant confirmed the Legacy Patch will release on November 18, 2026, and that The Ascent Ultimate Edition — bundling the base game and all three major DLC packs — will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on December 2, 2026. This confirms the developer is actively engaged with the game and delivering on the commitments made in the July 2026 announcement. With a confirmed upcoming patch, a new platform release, and stated franchise expansion plans, the game is clearly in an active phase of ongoing developer support and future content development.
