Evaluation

The Doors of Trithius is a solo-developed Early Access open-world RPG roguelike that has been in active, sustained development since its August 2021 launch. As of today, September 11, 2026, the developer just shipped v0.6.2 — The Weapons Update — which nearly doubles the total number of weapons in the game, adds woodcutting and mining systems, global storage, crafting quality-of-life improvements, and experimental dynamic lighting. This is the ninth major content update tracked across the game's history, following a consistent cadence of roughly every 2–5 months for substantial releases: Faction Warfare (February 2024), Skill Trees (June 2024), Pyromancy & Fulmination (July 2025), Cave of Dreams (October 2025), Bludgeons & Maces (December 2025), Staffs (March 2026), The Tempest Order: Part 1 (June 2026), and now The Weapons Update (September 2026). The developer has been explicit about what remains in the pipeline. The v0.6.1 "Part 1" label (June 5, 2026) described unfinished Tempest Order story content — including the main quest arc, a final boss, and a smaller dungeon variant — none of which has been addressed by the v0.6.2 weapons update. Within v0.6.2 itself, the developer notes that bows and crossbows still lack their Weapon Bonuses, which "will be added in an upcoming ranged update," and that the new experimental lighting is "groundwork for a proper day and night cycle, which we plan to add in a future update." Earlier posts also referenced Hex Magic as an upcoming magic skill tree. The developer's December 2024 end-of-year post described the roadmap as "packed." The game remains purchasable on Steam under the Early Access label, and development is clearly ongoing with no signals of slowdown.
