Stoneshard is a Steam Early Access game from Ink Stains Games that has been in active development since its Early Access launch on February 6, 2020. The game continues to receive major content updates at a consistent cadence. The most recent major update, "Blood Omens" (version 0.9.4.6), launched on March 26, 2026, introducing a full Lighting and Darkness system, 22 new enemies, a new weapon type (slings), a large side quest, and a comprehensive enemy AI overhaul. On April 8, 2026, the developers published a new roadmap explicitly confirming that the next major update, "Ancient Echoes," is planned for 2026. This update will introduce an Enchantment System, Legendary items, a procedural Task System, new Points of Interest, Wands as a new weapon type, a new Caravan Follower, and the Polearm Grips mechanic. The roadmap also describes a further update after that, focused on a Character Creator and Trait System, Random Encounters, and side quests — indicating substantial development work still ahead before the game approaches completion. On July 17, 2026 — just five days before today's assessment date — the developers published a detailed devlog previewing the Wands ability tree coming in "Ancient Echoes," demonstrating active, ongoing development work with very recent communication. The studio has also been actively shipping hotfixes since "Blood Omens" launched, with the most recent bug fix patch (0.9.4.24) posted on July 15, 2026. A cosmetic DLC, the "Nomad Caravan Appearance" Supporter Pack, released on June 1, 2026. All three DLC items currently listed are released. The developer's April 2026 roadmap makes clear that the game is not yet feature-complete: four major global systems (Enchantments, Tasks, Random Encounters, and Dynamic Traits/Character Creator) remain to be implemented, and the main quest line has not yet been added.

About this game

Stoneshard is a challenging turn-based RPG set in an open world. Experience the unforgiving life of a medieval mercenary: travel across the war-torn kingdom, fulfill contracts, fight, mend your wounds and develop your character without any restrictions.

There’s no hand-holding, and the game will punish you for your mistakes: you’ll have to carefully prepare for each expedition, plan your actions in advance, and weigh your resources against possible risks. Saving can only be done in certain spots, so each wrong move can potentially lead to a swift death and lost progress.

EXPLORE THE RAVAGED LANDS

Open World
War always leaves its mark: villages lie in ruins, dungeons are infested with monsters, and old roads are abandoned. Travel through Aldor and learn more about its past.
Caravan

Health System
