The Faraway Land launched on January 4, 2024. The game's story and core content were developed over a multi-year period, culminating in the release of the "Final Third Island" update on November 2, 2023 — explicitly described as delivering "the final part of The Faraway Land story," including a plot ending, new quests, costumes, monsters, a new biome, and fish farming. This marked the conclusion of the game's planned episodic content arc, which expanded from one island to two (May 2022) and then to three.
After the story was completed, the developer shipped a bug fix update in October 2024 (version 1.0.02) addressing minor issues such as stuck ponies and armor display.
