The Infinite Black launched on Steam on October 19, 2016 as a free-to-play multiplayer space combat game. The developer posted a client update in November 2016, then in June 2017 announced they were canceling a planned new game in favor of remastering the original with an expansion pack. On July 3, 2017, a crowdfunding campaign for this expansion was announced via a dedicated site (TIB-X.com). However, no follow-up was ever posted on Steam: no update on the crowdfunding outcome, no expansion content, no patches, and no developer communications of any kind after July 3, 2017. The game remains available and free-to-play, but there is no way to determine whether the promised expansion was ever completed or whether the developer is still actively working on the game. Nearly 9 years have passed since the last official communication.
