Thumper

Thumper launched on October 10, 2016 as a complete nine-level rhythm game. The developer, Drool, released a series of feature patches and quality-of-life updates in the months and years following launch, covering things like VR support, input remapping, and performance improvements. On October 1, 2019, Drool published a post explicitly titled "Thumper (Final?) Update," stating: "We're not planning further updates at this time, but we'll respond to any new major issues." This was a clear signal that planned development had concluded. Despite that statement, Drool did follow up with two more patches: a Steam Deck and controller compatibility update on February 15, 2022, and a Practice Mode update on June 6, 2022. These were maintenance and usability improvements rather than new content, consistent with the developer's promise to address major issues if they arose. The June 6, 2022 patch is the last recorded developer communication. The only DLC ever released was the original soundtrack on launch day. There are no unreleased DLC items, no announced future content, and no roadmap. The game shipped as a complete, self-contained experience and the developer has confirmed no further content is planned.
