Evaluation

Torque Drift 2 entered Steam Early Access on November 28, 2024 and remains explicitly in that state. Grease Monkey Games has maintained a consistent and substantial development cadence throughout its Early Access period. Three major named updates are visible in the news: Update 0.13 (December 18, 2024), which introduced Hero Events, expanded leaderboards to 90+ competitive boards, and multiplayer improvements; Update 0.14 (May 16, 2025), a sweeping overhaul delivering a full livery/paintshop editor, physics rework, 15% performance improvements, new time trial game mode, many new cars and parts, and multiplayer fixes; and Update 0.15 (October 30, 2025), which introduced asynchronous drift battles, a full ranked matchmaking system with seven tiers, a driver model, and additional vehicles and parts. Each major update was followed by hotfix patches (0.13.2, 0.14.1, 0.14.2), and in July 2025 the developer launched a community Crew Wars competition system with explicit plans to integrate it more deeply into the game if reception was positive. The most recent developer communication on record is from November 24, 2025, in which the studio celebrated over two years in Early Access, cited "over 15 major updates," and described their ongoing commitment to building the best drifting game possible. This is an unambiguous signal of continued active development. No 1.0 release date has been announced, and nothing in the developer's communications suggests development is winding down.

As the game grows, new features like livery contests, 1v1 drift battles, and crew tournaments will be introduced, offering even more ways to compete for parts, reputation, and global recognition.

Community and Connection

Our philosophy towards Torque Drift 2 is for it to be developed around players interacting with each other in meaningful ways. So, it stands to reason that we are building a robust communication system. Built with varying levels of public and private channels, the social element of TD2 is constructed to best cater towards the players in-game needs.
