Town of Salem 2 launched on August 25, 2023, as a free-to-play online social deduction game and has been in continuous, active development ever since. The game is structured around recurring seasons — each bringing new roles, sub-alignments, game modes, mechanics, and cosmetic content — consistent with an indefinitely-supported live service.
The developer has been communicating and shipping updates right up to the present. The most recent post, dated July 27, 2026, introduced a brand-new Voice Chat Mode — a substantial gameplay addition exclusive to owners of the "Deed to the Town" premium pass — along with Discord integration, new role silhouettes, new modifiers, and a variety of bug fixes. The patch notes also explicitly note that "we have plenty of planned upcoming additions to the mode," confirming ongoing development intentions.
Earlier in 2026, a March 24 patch delivered the Flexible Factions Update with major balance overhauls, new modifiers, new game modes, and a reworked ranked season structure. A February 5 Executive Producer update described active backend improvements and previewed the Flexible Factions content. A December 2025 developer statement confirmed console versions (PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch) remain a stated goal even though they did not ship in 2025, and noted the team was working on new cross-platform connectivity features.
The game's five major content releases (tracked across the scan) follow a pattern of roughly every 3–6 months, with Season 5 launching June 26, 2025 and substantial feature patches continuing through July 2026. The Mafia Pack cosmetic DLC also shipped on June 30, 2025.
A September 2024 developer statement confirmed key designers Curtis and Tuba are actively working on the franchise, and a new publisher (Digital Bandidos) has been in place since mid-2024. There are no signals of development winding down — the July 2026 patch explicitly references future planned additions.
