VAR: Exterminate

VAR: Exterminate entered Steam Early Access on May 16, 2021 and received a steady stream of updates throughout its first year — including new game modes (Mutation Mode Chapter 1 and Chapter 2), new enemies, new weapons, new ability cards, and various balance and feature patches. The developer's store description explicitly promises that more maps, stages, and chapters will be added for free over time. A May 2021 roadmap outlined ambitious plans including multiplayer/co-op, dual-wield weapons, and expanded content. However, the last official communication from the developer was the v1.4.2 patch on December 22, 2021. Since that date — now more than four years ago — there have been no updates, no news posts, no patches, and no announcements of any kind. The game remains in Early Access, and the promised content (additional chapters, co-op/multiplayer, and other roadmap items) has never been delivered. No reason for the silence has been communicated. This combination of outstanding commitments and years of developer inactivity raises serious questions about whether development is continuing.
