Wenjia launched on October 17, 2018 as a 2D platformer. Following launch, the developer shipped a couple of maintenance patches and then, on April 25, 2019, delivered a substantial "Remake" update that added new interactive elements, a new storyline, new music, difficulty adjustments, animation improvements, and a clearer tutorial. This appears to be the largest post-launch content update, and the store description reflects these additions under its "WHAT'S NEW" section.
The game's two DLC items — an Art Book (December 21, 2018) and a Soundtrack (December 26, 2018) — are both released. No unreleased DLC is listed. The developer also announced a WeGame and Nintendo Switch port in February 2019, but there is no indication of any further Steam content beyond the April 2019 remake update.
The last developer communication on Steam dates to April 25, 2019. Since then — more than seven years as of June 2026 — there have been no new posts, patches, announcements, or roadmaps from the studio. The world of WENJIA is one that shifts between the realms of Matter and Energy.
The realms of Matter and Energy mirror each other in perfect duality. However, certain entities in the Energy Realm have evolved into matter-less sentient beings. The game’s kitten protagonist (a cat-shaped energy entity) and spirits are all examples of such beings. Pure energy entities can travel freely between the two realms.

A forest’s longstanding tranquility is shattered by a sudden earthquake. As lava bursts forth from the ground, the mountain’s spirits find themselves surrounded by fiery death. By controlling a kitten, the player must overcome numerous obstacles in the wild to reach the burning heart of the mountain and rescue the spirits before it’s too late.
