Evaluation

Wrought Flesh launched on December 10, 2021 and received regular patches and a major content update in its first year. The game's only major post-launch content drop was "The Purple Sands of Cumulun" on July 4, 2022, which overhauled the oasis area with new quests, weapons, enemies, and music. On the same day, the developer posted a development status update explaining they would be stepping away from Wrought Flesh to work on a separate horror game, while still planning to hire staff for performance improvements and collaborate on a new tundra area update in fall 2022. That tundra update was never delivered. Development activity continued through patches — the last being Patch 1.1.6 on April 6, 2023, which added developer console features and fixed bugs — but no further major content arrived and no new announcements were made after that date. The developer's stated fall 2022 tundra plans were not fulfilled, and there has been no communication from the developer since April 6, 2023. Given that the promised tundra update never materialized and over three years have passed since the last developer communication, it is reasonable to conclude the developer has moved on and the game has reached the end of its content lifecycle. The only DLC is a soundtrack released January 27, 2022. The store description presents the game as a complete experience with a defined feature set (3 boss fights, 3 biomes, 8 guns, etc.), consistent with a finished product.
