xd1 entered Early Access on August 20, 2025 as a free-to-play roguelike. At launch, the developer was explicit about the game's unfinished state: Chapter 1 was described as roughly 80% complete, and Chapter 2 was only about 25% done, with no ending in the game yet. The developer promised to finish both chapters and add a canon ending, additional mechanics, bug fixes, and secrets — noting the full version might arrive "until the summer of 2026." The developer has remained consistently active since launch. A feature patch on August 25, 2025 added new areas, achievements, enemies, and gameplay systems. A larger patch bundle documented on January 25, 2026 covered six months of incremental updates, adding more dialogue, hints, story improvements, new content areas (including Pasaraka), hitbox fixes, and other feature work across multiple game zones. The originally suggested 1.0 target of summer 2026 has now passed (today is September 24, 2026), but the game remains in Early Access with no developer statement indicating that 1.0 has launched or that all planned content has shipped. The last recorded developer communication was the January 25, 2026 patch post, and no completion announcement has been made since. The game is still available for purchase as an Early Access title, and the outstanding content commitments from launch — completed chapters and a proper ending — have not been confirmed as delivered.
