Evaluation

Yoku's Island Express launched on May 29, 2018 as a complete, self-contained pinball-adventure game. After launch, the developer shipped a couple of bug-fix and quality-of-life patches in mid-to-late 2018, then returned in September 2021 to add one meaningful piece of new content: the Randomize mode, a new game mode that shuffles the order of unlocks for a fresh playthrough experience. That September 2021 update is the last substantive content the game received. The most recent developer communication — a February 3, 2026 news post — is notable: it announces a new game called Silver Pines, developed by two of Villa Gorilla's co-founders who have since moved on to a new studio called Wych Elm. The post explicitly frames this as "what some of the team are up to now," signaling that the original developers have moved on from Yoku's Island Express. No future content for Yoku's Island Express has been announced or hinted at, and no unreleased DLC exists on the store. With the core team departed to a new studio, the last content update dating back to September 2021, and no signals of anything further planned, Yoku's Island Express is best understood as a complete, finished game. The Randomize mode was the final content addition.
Evidence
Villa Gorilla's co-founders and lead Yoku developers have moved to a new studio (Wych Elm) and are working on an unrelated game, Silver Pines. The post frames this as what the team is doing 'now,' implying they have moved on from Yoku's Island Express.
