Animal Shelter launched on March 23, 2022 and received three paid content DLC packs: Puppies & Kittens (July 25, 2022), Horse Shelter (January 27, 2023), and Vet Clinic (August 13, 2023), along with a soundtrack. All four items in the DLC list are released with nothing unreleased. Following the Vet Clinic DLC in August 2023, the game received only maintenance and bug-fix patches — the most recent being patch 1.3.19 on December 17, 2024, which addressed a seasonal event and various bug fixes.
The developer has since launched Animal Shelter 2 on July 23, 2025, and all post-launch communications through this game's news feed have been dedicated to promoting Animal Shelter 2 content (Little Friends DLC in January 2026, Vet Clinic DLC in March 2026, Hunting Dogs Pack in April 2026, and the Anniversary Update in July 2026). No new content has been announced or hinted at for the original Animal Shelter. The developer has not posted any original-game-specific updates since late 2024.
