Animal Shelter 2 launched on July 23, 2025 and has received a substantial and sustained stream of post-launch content. Since launch, the developer has shipped five paid DLC packs: Little Friends DLC (January 12, 2026, adding 7 small animal species), Vet Clinic DLC (March 6, 2026, adding veterinary facilities and diagnostics), Hunting Dogs Pack (April 29, 2026), Fluffy Cats Pack (July 20, 2026), and Bull-Type Terriers Dogs Pack (July 20, 2026). Alongside these, the developer delivered a series of free milestone updates throughout late 2025, culminating in the Anniversary Update on July 20, 2026 — described as the biggest free update the game has received, bringing vaccination mechanics, expanded multiplayer adoption, improved animal AI, new enclosures, staff management improvements, and more. The developer posted a bug fix patch as recently as July 28, 2026. All five currently listed DLC are released, and no specific future content has been announced by name. However, given the consistent cadence of major releases roughly every 1–3 months since launch and no developer statement indicating the end of content support, the game appears to be in an ongoing phase of active post-launch development.

In Animal Shelter Simulator 2, the potential adopters will be able to visit the shelter and see the pets for themselves before they make up their mind about them.
