Evaluation
Azure Striker Gunvolt launched on Steam on August 28, 2015. Following launch, the developer ran a series of monthly content updates through early 2016 — adding new gameplay modes (Endless Attack, Speedrun variants, Easy/Hard modes, Christmas Mode) and quality-of-life improvements. The February 2016 update was explicitly described as the "final monthly update" for the game, signaling the end of the planned post-launch content cycle.
After that, the developer issued a substantial feature patch in May 2018 that brought the Steam version in line with the Nintendo Switch release (60 FPS, unified screen layout, Kudos Style system), and a final quality-of-life patch on December 22, 2022 that refined the Story Mode+ dialog display behavior. Both DLC items — the official soundtrack and Azure Phosphorescence — were released on launch day, August 28, 2015, and no unreleased DLC exists on the store.
There have been no developer communications of any kind since December 22, 2022, no announced future content, and no roadmap or outstanding commitments. The game launched as a complete product, fulfilled its announced post-launch update plan, and has since received only maintenance-level polish. December 22, 2022 represents the last developer touch to the game and is the most reasonable marker for when the content was fully settled.
Evidence
Developer explicitly described this as the 'Steam version final monthly update,' ending the announced six-month post-launch content cycle with Easy Mode and Hard Mode additions.
Final developer update, refining the Story Mode+ dialog box transparency behavior. Last official communication from the developer as of June 27, 2026.
