Card Quest launched out of Early Access on November 7, 2017, at which point the developer described it as fully released and noted that future updates would be limited to balance patches and bug fixes — no new content was planned for the original game. The developer later announced a separate "Card Quest: Remastered" project in February 2021, which was planned as a new release with overhauled art, a new Gauntlet Mode, mod support, and localization. However, on January 24, 2023, the developer explicitly placed Card Quest: Remastered on indefinite hold, citing the success and demands of their other game Card Survival and their small two-person team size. They stated clearly that they did not want anyone to keep waiting for it. The most recent developer communication for the original Card Quest was a small security patch on October 10, 2025, fixing a Unity vulnerability — a routine maintenance update with no content implications. The original Card Quest game is complete as it has been since its 1.0 launch on November 7, 2017. The planned remaster is shelved indefinitely, and no new content for the base game has ever been promised or delivered post-launch.
