Cat Bait

Cat Bait is an Early Access casual survivor game that launched on August 27, 2024. The developer — a small indie team — has been actively building out the game since launch. The most recent major update shipped on January 8, 2025, adding a steampunk-themed location ("Sea Machine") complete with a new boss, new enemies, new music tracks, and a new player outfit. Importantly, the update post itself states that "more Helper Cats are on the way," which is a direct developer commitment to further content. Leading up to that update, the developer published detailed progress reports in October 2024 and November 2024 describing work on unique upgrade paths for all Helper Cats, a new Cat Miner helper, new enemies, and a new boss — all of which were delivered in the January 2025 update. The last developer communication of any kind was on January 8, 2025. While there has been no post since then as of today (September 24, 2026), the game's Early Access status remains in place and the developer's own statement that additional Helper Cats are planned has not been retracted or superseded by any later communication. The gap since January 8, 2025 is notable, but the game is still marked as Early Access on Steam and no completion or closure statement has been made. The previous major updates came roughly 4–5 months apart (launch in August 2024, major update January 2025), so the current silence since January 8, 2025 — now over 20 months — is well beyond that established interval with no developer communication. However, no studio distress signals have been posted either, and the game remains available for purchase in Early Access. The developer's explicit commitment to more Helper Cats and the Early Access status together indicate planned content remains outstanding.
