Evaluation
Critadel launched on October 13, 2021 as a complete roguelike action game. In the weeks immediately following launch, the developer pushed out a series of balance patches and bug fixes, then on November 12, 2021 announced a planned content update that would bring new weapons, attachments, artifacts, companions, and additional Hard Mode content. That update shipped on January 29, 2022 (version 1.1.007), delivering the promised QoL improvements and new content. The most recent developer communication was on July 18, 2023, when the game received a Steam Deck verification patch with minor compatibility fixes. Since that July 2023 post, there have been no further developer communications of any kind — no roadmaps, no announcements, and no new content. The game has 16 total news posts across its lifetime, with the last major content update being the January 2022 patch. No unreleased DLC is listed on the store, the store description contains no language about future content, seasons, or ongoing development, and the developer has made no statements promising further updates. The game appears to have launched as a self-contained package and received one post-launch content drop before development activity wound down. The Steam Deck patch in July 2023 was the final developer touch, bringing the game up to compatibility standards. With nearly three years of silence since that last post (as of June 2026) and no outstanding commitments, the game is complete.

About this game

The Future of Unlimited Action
Run, jump and blast through the convoluted pathways and secret chambers of the giant mechanical tower known as Babel. Along the way, you’ll face legions of futuristic enemies—minions of the “Order of Noah,” an evil faction that has seized control of the tower. At the top: ancient knowledge that can grant eternal life. Who will get there first?
A hardcore action game with GBA-inspired graphics and a pulse-pounding techno soundtrack, Critadel offers a virtually limitless variety of weapon and item configuration options. With upgradeable playable characters and continuously reconfigured branching paths, it’s a game that’s different every time you play it!
Features
• Three different playable characters (fearless fighter Nox, mysterious cultist Ahnushu and combat android Alice), each with their own unique starting weapons/items, upgradeable abilities and unlockable costumes
• 360° aiming cursor allows you to blast enemies in any direction
• Dodge-roll maneuver with limited invincibility for avoiding attacks
• Powerful weapons that can be purchased or found randomly in the tower
• Collectible artifacts that give passive bonuses when equipped
• Two types of in-game currency: crystals (found throughout the tower) and orbs (earned by defeating bosses)
• Two difficulty modes, plus a Boss Rush mode for replaying boss battles
