Evaluation
The developer, Geoff 'Zag' Keene, posted a direct statement on December 21, 2018 clarifying the game's status. He explained that DETOUR was made when he was around 18–19 years old (the game released on May 16, 2011), that it briefly changed hands to another company, and that it has since returned to his ownership. Crucially, he stated explicitly: "there's no official support for the game's future." He noted he had moved on to a new project (Unfortunate Spacemen) and suggested that a sequel was at most a vague personal wish, not a plan. The game launched as a finished product in 2011 and has received no post-launch content updates. The developer's own words confirm development concluded long ago and no further content is planned.
