Forge Quest launched on May 29, 2015 and received several patches and feature updates throughout 2015, including a new Endless Dungeon mode and various balance improvements. On June 23, 2016, the developers (a two-person team) published a post titled "Future of Open Realms & Survey Results" explaining that, while they were proud of Forge Quest, the new ideas they wanted to explore would fundamentally change the existing game in ways that would be unfair to current players. As a result, they decided to take the Forge Quest concept in a new direction as a separate, follow-up title set in the same world — informally dubbed "Forge Quest 2." This effectively marked the conclusion of active development on Forge Quest itself. There have been no further news posts, feature updates, or announcements for the game since that June 2016 post. No DLC or additional content has been listed on the store. The game is complete as it stands, with no further content planned for this title.

Evidence

Developers announced that new ideas would fundamentally change Forge Quest into a different game, so they decided to move those ideas into a new separate title rather than continue updating Forge Quest. This post is the last official communication from the developer.

About this game

Forge Quest is a dungeon crawling rpg set in a voxel world. Explore the land full of chickens on a light hearted quest to become a hero. Delve deep into the randomly generated dungeons to battle monsters, find treasure and craft your equipment. Invite your friends to join your world and help you in your adventure.

Long after great wars ravaged the land of Shmoop, a balance has been reached as both sides agreed to regulate all hero and villain related activities. This system flourishes as it creates the economic stability the land needed, and from it the great bureaucracy rose to rule over the land.

After many years from the system's inception, you step onto the scene. A strapping young adventurer who, after being dropped off by your parents, set off to obtain your Hero license from the kingdom. Although eager to claim your title, your path is full of danger as you must first prove yourself in the dungeons below. You also soon learn that not everyone plays by the rules and what it means to become a hero is much more then just a signed paper.
