Gears 5

Gears 5 launched on September 9, 2019 and received a substantial post-launch content program through a series of named "Operations" — multiplayer seasons delivering new characters, maps, modes, and PvE content. On May 10, 2021, The Coalition published a direct statement explaining that the studio was shifting resources to next-generation development using Unreal Engine 5, and explicitly stated that Gears 5 would continue through Operations 7 and 8 only. Operation 8: Drop 1 launched on August 3, 2021 as the final planned operation, completing the content roadmap the developer had outlined. All three DLC items on the store are released: the Ultra-HD Texture Pack (September 2019), the Ultimate Edition DLC Content (September 2019), and the Hivebusters campaign expansion (December 2020). No unreleased DLC is listed. More recent developer communications — an announcement on March 30, 2026 about a dedicated showcase for a new game, Gears of War: E-Day, and an August 6, 2026 post promoting the E-Day open beta — confirm that The Coalition's focus has fully moved to the next entry in the franchise. These posts were published on the Gears 5 Steam page but concern an entirely separate upcoming title, not new content for Gears 5.
