Evaluation
Earth Defense Force 5 launched on Steam on July 11, 2019. All 20 DLC items — including two mission packs and 18 weapon/equipment items — have been released, with the final piece being Mission Pack 2: Super Challenge on August 8, 2019. No unreleased DLC appears in the store listing.
Since the game's DLC wrapped up in August 2019, the developer's news posts on this Steam page have focused entirely on other titles in the EDF franchise: EDF6 (launched July 25, 2024, with two additional mission packs shipped in late 2024), Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 (launched September 26, 2024), and Custom Mech Wars. None of these posts announce any new content for EDF5 itself.
There are no developer statements about future EDF5 updates, no unreleased DLC, and no post-launch update pattern beyond the initial DLC wave that concluded in August 2019. The game shipped as a complete product and its post-launch content was fully delivered within the first month of its PC release.

STORY

This is the living nightmare we'd all feared.
It all started in Japan, 2022. An immense fleet of starships laid siege to an EDF base located in the rough city outskirts in the Kanto region.
This was an enemy humanity had never encountered, the Primers. Even worse, enormous insects attack the EDF base built even further underground. The EDF fights back.
Even more realistic battles
Armor will peel off where you shoot enemies, and their fluids will spill out onto buildings and floors, making you feel like you're truly on the EDF's battlefield.
4 EDF classes powered up like never before
As the player, take on missions with one of four classes. Finish missions to unlock new ones and advance the story. You can switch classes before missions as many times as you'd like.
