There have been no further updates to this specific title since January 22, 2023. The developer's news activity since then has been focused entirely on other entries in the Japanese Rail Sim series — a store page announcement for a MEITETSU Line game in April 2023, and the release of a new standalone title, Japanese Rail Sim: Hakone, in September 2024. The store description for Journey to Kyoto presents a self-contained package: two train lines, two trains, and accompanying guidebook content, with no mention of planned additions. The developer has not announced any additional content for this title. Based on the game's content scope and the developer's shift of attention to new series entries, Journey to Kyoto appears to be a complete, finished product.
