Evaluation

Metro Simulator 2 launched into Steam Early Access on December 15, 2022, and graduated to a full 1.0 release on June 14, 2023. Following its PC release, the developer ported the game to additional platforms: it arrived on Nintendo Switch on February 21, 2024, and on Xbox consoles on April 24, 2024. The February 2024 Switch launch post mentioned that PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series ports were also in progress at that time — and the Xbox release followed in April 2024, which plausibly fulfilled that commitment. The store description presents the game as a complete product with a defined feature set: Moscow Metro Line 6 with 24 stations, two trains, Free Mode, and scenarios. There is no DLC listed, no season pass, no roadmap for future content, and no developer statement indicating that additional content is planned. Looking at the full post-launch communication history, the developer was most active during Early Access (late 2022 through mid-2023), shipping regular patches and feature updates. After the 1.0 release in June 2023, activity shifted toward platform ports. The last developer communication on record is the Xbox release announcement on April 24, 2024. There have been no posts since then — over 14 months of silence as of June 2026 — and no outstanding commitments are visible. The console porting work announced in February 2024 appears to have concluded with the Xbox release. The earlier development distress post from August 2022 (copyright disputes, payment restrictions) was written during Early Access and was not followed by any studio closure or further crisis communications, indicating the studio navigated those challenges and shipped the game. With no announced future content, no unreleased DLC, no active update cadence post-console launch, and no developer statements pointing to continued work, the game appears to be a finished product. The April 24, 2024 Xbox release represents the last known content milestone.
