Evaluation

Jet Island launched on September 21, 2018 and received a steady stream of updates in the period following release. Two notable feature updates arrived in late 2018 (October and November), a major feature patch landed in June 2019 with Valve Index controller support and new modifiers, and the last significant content update — a large patch introducing new lighting, a 10X boss size modifier, multiplayer high-fives, feet tracking, and other features — shipped on June 25, 2020. On August 3, 2021, the developer (a solo indie creator) posted a direct statement about the game's future: they announced they were shifting focus to a new game and needed a break from Jet Island for mental health reasons. They mentioned that "small updates" might still come for Jet Island, but no further posts of any kind have appeared since that August 2021 statement — nearly five years of silence as of June 2026. No DLC has ever been listed for the game, no roadmap or future content was announced, and the store description makes no mention of planned additions. The developer's August 2021 post effectively signaled the end of active development on Jet Island. The game shipped as a complete adventure with four boss fights, an open world, and multiplayer, and received meaningful post-launch improvements over roughly two years. With no outstanding commitments, no announced future content, and no developer communication since August 3, 2021, the game is best understood as a finished product. The last major content release was June 25, 2020.
