Journey to the Savage Planet launched on Steam on January 28, 2021, alongside its one DLC expansion, Hot Garbage — both released on the same day. A small co-op bug fix was issued on March 2, 2021, and that was the last post-launch development activity on this game. The developer (now operating as Raccoon Logic) has since moved on to a spiritual successor, Revenge of the Savage Planet, which was announced in December 2024 and launched in May 2025. News posts on the Journey to the Savage Planet Steam page from early 2025 promoted the sequel, and a February 2025 announcement even offered a free copy of Journey to the Savage Planet as a bonus with purchase of the new game — clearly positioning the original as a complete, standalone product being used to promote the sequel. There is no unreleased DLC, no announced roadmap, and no developer statements indicating any further content is planned for this game. It launched as a finished product with its expansion included on day one.
