Lurk in the Dark: Prologue is a free, story-based FPS horror game released on November 8, 2019, representing the first part of an episode called "THE GUILTY." The store description explicitly states it is a prologue leading into a larger, still-unreleased story, and that players can watch a teaser movie connecting to the second part of the episode and the main game.
The developer, IDEA FRUITION, has communicated an ambitious plan for the full series: a paid episode (Lurk in the Dark: Episode THE GUILTY) with Part 1 planned as an early access release and Part 2 as a completed product, both originally targeted for 2024, plus a separate main game featuring a character named Jack, now targeted for release by 2027. In April 2023, the developer launched a Patreon to fund continued development of Episode THE GUILTY. As recently as March 20, 2024, a news post confirmed that "Lurk in the Dark is also actively in production."
However, the 2024 release milestones for Episode THE GUILTY have passed with no announced shipping of either Part 1 or Part 2. The developer has not posted any updates since March 20, 2024 — now over 15 months of silence. While the developer's last word was that the game is in active production, the combination of missed deadlines and an extended communication gap makes the current development status uncertain. Players who are waiting for the full game should be aware that no official update has been provided since March 2024, and the promised 2024 content has not materialized.
