Planetaries entered Steam Early Access on August 15, 2024 and maintained a steady stream of feature updates throughout its first year — progressing from v1.61 at launch through v1.8 on November 21, 2025. These updates added substantial new content at a consistent cadence of roughly every 1–3 months: new biomes (Arctic), new bosses and enemies (Destroyer Bot, Duelist, Sarut), new weapons (Shotgun, Aero Bow, Precision Rifle), new game systems (companion/follower droids, first-person view, a reworked tech tree), and multiple major optimization passes.
However, as of today — September 24, 2026 — there has been no developer communication since the v1.8 post on November 21, 2025. That is more than 10 months of silence, far exceeding the 1–3 month cadence the developer had reliably maintained. The game remains in Early Access with no 1.0 release announced, no roadmap update, and no explanation for the extended quiet period. This gap raises genuine uncertainty about whether active development is continuing.
