Prime World: Defenders 2 is a free-to-play multiplayer tower defense game with collectible card mechanics. It launched in November 2018 and was actively developed through 2021, with major updates arriving roughly every 1–2 months: Update 1.9.6 (February 4, 2021), Update 1.9.7 (March 17, 2021), Update 1.9.8 (April 6, 2021), Update 1.9.9 (April 20, 2021), Update 1.9.10 (June 1, 2021), Update 1.9.11 (June 24, 2021), and Update 1.9.12 (July 28, 2021). These updates consistently added new heroes, towers, enemies, seasonal content, and gameplay systems — exactly the kind of live service cadence this genre depends on. The game is structured as a live service: it features seasonal PvP mine resets, rotating themed events, a premium subscription tier, and a battle pass system — all designed for ongoing, indefinitely recurring content. A June 1, 2021 announcement post explicitly stated that new story quests would "be added to the game on a regular basis." However, the last official communication from Nival was a routine maintenance notice on September 6, 2021. Since then — a period now spanning nearly five years through June 2026 — there have been no updates, no patch notes, no developer posts of any kind. This complete silence is highly abnormal for a game designed around continuous seasonal content. The developer has provided no explanation for the halt, and has not announced the game's discontinuation either. The servers appear to remain live (the game is still purchasable and running), but whether active development continues is unknown.
