Saurian

Saurian is a dinosaur survival game that entered Steam Early Access on August 2, 2017, and has never released a 1.0 version. The developer, Urvogel Games, has been building out the game over several years, adding major content milestones like the Triceratops playable species update in October 2020, along with a series of feature patches introducing systems like courtship and nesting (June 2022), new weather systems (May 2023), and a steady stream of devlogs. However, the studio disclosed a serious internal crisis in May 2021: their former manager had been stealing funds from the company for years — approximately $75,000 in total. The team settled the matter out of court, brought in new management, and stated clearly that development would continue. Subsequent activity through 2023 did show the team continuing to post and patch the game, suggesting the crisis was weathered. That said, the development pace has slowed considerably. After relatively regular devlog postings through 2021–2023, the gap between Devlog #124 (July 1, 2023) and Devlog #125 (January 1, 2025) stretched to roughly 18 months. Since Devlog #125 on January 1, 2025, there has been no further official communication from the developer — a silence now exceeding 17 months as of June 27, 2026. The game remains in Early Access with no announced 1.0 release date or public roadmap detailing what content remains before completion. Given the prolonged silence following an already-slowing cadence, the current status of active development cannot be confirmed.
