Shantae: Half-Genie Hero launched on December 20, 2016 and received three post-launch DLC packs: Pirate Queen's Quest (August 29, 2017), Friends to the End (December 12, 2017), and the Costume Pack (April 10, 2018). A final free content update — Jammies Mode and a bonus Blaster Master Zero Transformation Dance — was released on July 31, 2018, bundled as the "Ultimate Edition." All three DLC entries in the store listing are marked as released, and no additional content has been announced since July 2018. The two most recent developer news posts on this game's Steam page (March 2024) are announcements for a separate WayForward game, Contra: Operation Galuga — not new Shantae content. The store description's mention of DLC modes introducing new characters, levels, and bosses refers to the content that has already shipped. With no unreleased DLC, no future content announcements, and over seven years of silence on this title's development, the game is a complete package.
